i just sold my whitebook for $900 to some guy on craigslist. didnt have to deal with ebay seller fees or anything. it was 2.4 ghz, 4gb ram. i feel like i got top dollar for it. any thoughts? im amazed how macs retain value...

Refurb is 1,049 and new is 1249

Most of those refurbs are new anyway. It's Apple's way of clearing old stock after a big announcement.

Although you may actually get a refurbished unit when you order one. However, a refurbished unit is, in my opinion, usually better than a new unit in most instances, since it has been checked while new machines have not. You rarely hear of people coming in here and slagging off their newly purchased refurb. ;)

A bit off topic, but quite interesting. I went on the Mac2Sell website to give me a rough estimate on how much I would get for my MacBook for if I were to sell it. Well, I did an estimate before the event, and after the event (today). Here's the figures (in AUD):

Left picture shows the amount I would have got for it if I sold it before the event, and the pic on the right shows its current value.

That's a great sale! I'd be selling my blackbook if my wife didn't need it.

And yeah, craigslist > ebay any day.

By the time you pay the ebay listing fee, ebay selling fee and pay a Paypal fee, you're looking at about 12% total. About $180 on a $1500 sale. Not a bad take for ebay for just hosting some small files for a few days.

but definitely a rip off for the seller.

You did get an awesome deal. I'm trying to sell my comp.
