I have to manually go to the app store and download the app, Apple won't do it automatically.

JUst asking if this is the norm since it came from android.

Yes, since setting up as a new device vs updating from an existing device (ie. transferring over settings/configuration from old device or backup). If updating via a transfer or backup, App Store will eventually download and install all the apps that were on the old device (might take a while).

App Store does not know what apps you want on the new device (and frankly, would not want it to needlessly download all my old purchases that might still exist in the App Store [15 years worth of apps] I have not used in ages).

ADD: and re-reading the OP, did you use the Android to iOS app that's in the Play store? Not sure how that works with apps that are in both stores.

I might be missing something here, but what does your response have to do with transferring from android to iPhone? What am I missing LOL

Edit: oh is the OP referring to using the android to iPhone transfer wizard?

Yes android to iOS wizard.

My apps are still in the cloud and I assumed they'll download over wifi by itself I'm guessing since isn't from one iphone to another I have to manually download the apps myself.

Anyways thanks I'm back on iOS after 2 years with droid and I'm staying.

Android to iOS app is very basic it copied over my contacts and a few things but left much out, it's not rated too highly on the play store and I see why but it works.
