Yeah it shocked me, here’s a test I did. Pitch black almost to actually viewable.

It's interesting that even in the preview on the phone screen, you can see more with night mode. I wonder if this is the future of security cameras too? Or those nighttime cameras meant to capture wildlife.

Motion blur and distortion would render it useless for security application. There are example photos in another thread where a guy's face and body were blurred and arm mutated.

This was taken with just the light of the stars. Not a great pic, but impressive that it can use just star light to make a picture using night mode with the 3 second timer. Holding the phone steady is critical, and I probably would have had a better picture using a tripod. Obviously, night mode works a lot better with some ambient light (more than just star light)

How come my night mode ain’t working? It’s in night mode, I’m in dark room. Take a picture, hold still, and it comes out like this. What gives? I’m trying and trying and nothing.

Looks like you got burned drinking the koolaid. Jokingly aside, you need more light than you have in your pics even in night mode.

The point of night mode isn’t to take pitch black photos :D

I would agree but there are videos on YouTube taking pictures in complete dark and it just lights up after? Even on this post. I had the same setup. His came out good. Why didn’t mine?
