Hi everyone, I just did the upgrade and Mavericks seems to be a huge improve! But still, I have some questions.
1. Does the new multi display mode consume more power? Because when I connect to my 1080P display in the new mode, I find my MBA are slightly hotter in the keyboard area.

2. Can I switch between the new multi display mode and the old? I find impossible to use keynote to play on the 2nd display. When I try to do so, the 2nd display just goes black for a sec and back on displaying its own desktop instead of the Keynote page.

3. Is the three finger tap for looking up in dictionary working for you? Now when I three finger tap on words, nothing happens.

That's all I want to know at the moment, thanks!

Yes it does consume more power because it still relies on your laptop's CPU and GPU. That's where the heat's from.

Yeah it is for me. Try control + command + D if the three-finger tap doesn't work. If the shortcut doesn't work either then I'd suggest going to Dictionary.app to see if the dictionaries are set up properly.

Make sure it's checked in your trackpad settings:

hmm, it's already checked and not working. This is weird.

No, I mean comparing to the old multiscreen mode, which doesn't have its own menu bar and dock.

This is weird, control command d works but not the 3 finger tap.

Just to weigh in, on OS X 10.9 DP8 the three finger tap is working for me. Like others have suggested, try logging into a guest account and see if it works there..

Will try that.

You have something else installed that is interfering with the gesture/tap.

BetterTouchTool perhaps?

Log into a guest account and see if it works.

No, I don't have those.

----------

Can anyone answer my 2nd question?

Update: I tried to log into my guest account, and it worked. But I don't have anything that can override the gesture setting. The only thing I installed that will affect these kind of things is Reverse Scrolling, which I use to reverse the mouse wheel direction with my bluetooth mouse. How can I locate what's wrong?

I'm thinking of installing DP8 as it's probably close to final and very stable, but I'm curious if it will be possible (or advisable...) to install the final on top of it, or if it will be better installing from scratch at that point?

I doubt there are any differences.
