So here are my general impressions:
Overall, I don't feel it being significantly different in speed, perhaps slightly snappier. The new features are a joy although I do not have mms and tethering up. I am in love with the mail search, copy and paste, and notes syncing to mail. But most importantly you can type 'lol' without it correcting it to 'LOL'....go Apple!
Update: For some reason, landscape mode gets stuck on the iPod. Although I have the GM copy of 3.0, I hope they will tweak that before the update is public. Shake to shuffle is kind of annoying however shake to undo for texting is very helpful.
