I've just updated to mavericks last night on my macbook pro, the installation was very sluggish, it would take abut 10 minutes for a minute of the progress bar to be filled.

Upon restarting this morning i am greeted with absolutely nothing, its as if the display is not even turning on, no light at all. I have plugged it in and verified it has charge, and I can hear the machine is working very quietly (as it normally would) if i listen.

I then proceeded to plug it into my thunderbolt display, which kicked into action after about a 5 minute wait, (this is normally instant for me). The laptop is still not recognised and the screen is still black; if i go into system preferences and check the displays the laptop does not show up, just the thunderbolt screen, I have also attatched another screen and that display has been picked up.

I've not had any problems with my mac for the last 3 years, this is the first hicup, anyone had similar issues, or know what the problem could be?

Thank You!
