I just update my phone and watch to 26.2 from 18.7.2 and previous watch version today. Now I'm missing watch complications on the watch app on the phone. I can add them from the watch but on the phone they show as "off" and have blank spaces where they should be in the watch face gallery. Some say they will repopulate in time and other have had to un-pair the watch from the phone then re-pair and set up as new without using a backup. Anybody know if I'm on the right track to correct this issue?

I had the same issue issue awhile back as part of the 26 wave of software. Can’t remember exactly what I did to get them back, I think I waited, but I most certainly did not need to re-pair my watch. I might have restarted both devices a couple of times as well.

I have noticed some delay to see all watch faces again, I think it continues updating in the background so give it some time, like a half or full day

i unpaired and repaired my apple watch after updating to 26.2 for another issue and now i am missing some complications like todays date for example.

i will give it some time and hopefully they come back. just putting this out there that unpairing and repairing might not do the trick since i lost mine after doing that.

I should have added in my post that some complications were not available but a few minutes later they were, again, I think it is due to the upgrade continuing in the background. And, as we know, that update might occur over bluetooth ...

interesting, I usually update my watch faces on the watch app on the phone due to size/readability
I'm able to add the missing complications only by editing them on the watch also. They are missing on the phone app only. If I try to use the phone app, it removes the complications that I've added from the watch. It was an unexpected element that I wasn't expecting and hopefully everything will repopulate in time. Maybe it's a syncing issue?

I can't remember exact details as it's just been quite a while for me, but I do know for sure that I did not edit my watch face on the watch, only on the watch app on the iPhone, and there it was a matter of an hour or so for the complications to show up. I assumed that "not on phone" means "not on watch" but I guess I was wrong

I had a similar issue with WatchOS18, I think.

Check your privacy and security -> Location Services and make sure Apple Watch Faces is set to "While Using the App". If it is, uncheck it and recheck it.

Hopefully that was the issue and helps.

Well after waiting about 6hours I figured the complications wouldn't repopulate to the Watch App so I un-paired and re-paired my Ultra 2 and it fixed all the issues. Now if it happens again when I update my S6 I know how to fix it.

Wow, you had to do that, sorry to hear.
I had to go thru the un-/re-pair 3 times with my U2 in the past 3 months and that process is a pita as you have to add your cards to the wallet again, and the last 2 times also my mobile DL... (1st time was when I got my 17PM that didn't transfer the watch and the 2nd and 3rd time was for a replacement under AC+)

I was actually lucky because all the information I read online said you had to set the watch up as new without using a backup. I used my backup instead and fortunately it worked.

havent came back either but too much of a hassle to unpair and repair my watch again at least they are showing up on the watch itself just not in the iphone watch app. maybe this will get fixed in the next watchOS update 26.3

Weird.

Not a big complication user and things have been working for me so no need to look, but this all got me curious.

A couple of my faces in Watch app were showing as blank for complications but the complication name(s) were correct in the list below the individual face. Took a a couple of seconds for the face in Watch to get filled in.

Seen in the past where complications were slow to populate on the Watch itself but always chalked it up to apps uploading to Watch. Watch version of "indexing" on Mac. And even then, might have been due to new Watch (saw this when I setup the 10 I bought earlier in the year).

Though it sounds like OP solved their problem with unpair/re-pair, I wonder if that is a bit of a placebo in most cases. When unpairing, backup is done of what's on the Watch. So, example, half way through setup, so that got/gets saved, re-pair, pull that partially completed work and the other half of update gets completed.

I just wiped and re-paired my watch to a new phone, and am seeing the same issue. For those who were commenting here a few days ago, did the issue resolve on its own? "Today's Date" is specifically missing from the iPhone app.
