Hey everyone, I noticed while I was searching these forums that theres not much mention of the 2.5 inch 640 GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue when I was debating on buying it or not. Anyways I took the plunge on Black Friday, Newegg had the drive on sale that weekend, however the site was experiencing issues and I was not able to order it in time, because by the time they fixed it they were sold out. So for that Newegg gave me $25 credit towards my next purchase.
I looked around on Newegg and noticed they had this external HD on sale that is not even listed on Western Digitals site. It was a limited time offer. It was this one. After doing research I found it out it was indeed the same 640 GB drive on the inside as the one I wanted to get, so in the end I ended up with a 640 GB drive and an external enclosure from that for a lot cheaper.
Once the drive arrived I took apart the case of the external HD, which was really easy, it was all held in by tabs and was easy to take off with a flat head screw driver. I then proceeded to install the Hard Drive into my Macbook Pro and installation was a breeze. Once that finished I put my old Fujitsu 320 GB 7200 rpm drive in the external enclosure and started transferring data off it manually because I wanted a completely fresh start.
All in all the drive runs super quiet and doesn't vibrate at all, you can't even feel it running on the palm rest and my temps have also gotten lower while increasing battery juice at the same time. The drive is also fast, in my old drive I noticed quite a few beachballs and this one hasn't beach balled yet. Its been about 4 days now. I recommended this drive to anyone its amazing!
Also, the exact model of the 640 GB drive is WD6400BEVT the one that was inside the enclosure. It is the same as this one.
