Help required folks, have just got a back up desktop (G5 imac, I know about a year old but got a great price on it) and noticed it has the isight camera at the top of the screen. My question is this

What can you actualy use this for? does it work in chat roms etc as have tried in a chatroom and it asks to connect when you log in and say yes log in with camera yet it is just blank.

If it only works for taking pics of user or when using apple software then its a poor add on and means a webcam would be required for the future. Looked in manual and as usual there is nothing to ge excited over in there (about a page of info, well three to four paragraphs to be exact) so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

With mercury messenger, skype or aMSN you can video chat with PCers. iChat can chat videodly with macusers...

If you have iLife '06 you can also use it to make podcasts/Quicktime vids in iMovie.

Skype is the best comms app hands down in my opinion, full compatibility with PC users, video, audio, text... the new Mac beta now does SMS which is very neat too.

I bought myself some skype out credit and find myself making super cheap ph calls around the world, and 1/3rd price SMS's to my mates (if I'm at my PC)

seriously worth a look, whoever they hired recently to help develop the UI, they are doing a magnificent job.
