Yeah I was thinking, if you buy an unlocked iPhone on eBay right, and you connected it to iTunes, am I right in thinking that it locks it back to its factory state? Not that I would tho

No it wouldn't unless you update the phone.

Also, don't scam yourself by paying extra for an unlocked iPhone. There are free tools that you can download and pwnage has a step by step tutorial stickied to this forum (and there is a youtube video up too)
