I've got a 2011 15" Macbook Pro with a thunderbolt port. To get signal to my Samsung tv/monitor, I bought this:

http://www.kanexlive.com/products/iAdaptV2.html

Problem is that when connected the picture and sound flicker constantly (although variably) making it unwatchable.

Questions:
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is the Kanex unit defective?
Do these Kanex adapters not work at all for this application?
Am I missing a critical setting?
Is this a software issue with my MBP?

(Note that I've been running signal from the mini-display port through an hdmi adapter from my 4 year old iMac to the tv quite successfully for the last 2 years.)

SOLVED: Turns out my HDMI cable was not adequate. Got a new cable that is 1.3 compliant (should it need that?) and it works great.
