So, I heard 'Teenage Dream' on the radio a minute ago, I was listening to the lyrics, and I know it's all just pop fluff made by a small writing team, but it made me constantly think of 'Sandcastles in the sand' a faux pop song from TV show 'How I Met Your Mother'.

Teenage Dream

Sandcastles in the Sand

What do you think? I guess it's where they're both about teenage love/angst, but the Katy Perry is unintentionally funny through the pretty cliche lyrics.

Can we try not to turn this into a I love/hate Katy Perry or I love/hate HIMYM, there's other threads for that already.

Katy Perry is the definition of Pop Garbage music.
Pop Garbage Music = Cliche.

So it doesn't surprise me that the two songs are similar, HIMYM does a good job of clowning Pop Garbage Music (PGM) since it really doesn't require much more than the ability to rhyme words and play an I, IV, V chord progression.

Too bad she had to drag Snoop along...

"Teenage Dream"

lol what a terrible song. No wonder my generation is so obsessed with "love" and sex.

Her boyfriend was pretty hot, but did anyone else notice Chris Pine was in that video?

"Sandcastles in the sand" was hilarious.
