I have a S6 arriving today with the band I want. I decided though to buy a different watch...I bought a blue one and a silver is arriving today. I really want the band coming with the silver. It is the pink braided band. Do you think the store will let me buy back just the band if I return the watch and band together? I don’t want to wait until November for a new one.

I have a similar situation where I bought the watch from Verizon but they didnt offer the band I wanted and was wondering if I can swap the band out at the Apple Store once I receive it as an equal exchange?

The watch and the band, even though sold in 2 boxes cannot be exchanged separately. For some reason Apple counts it as the same item. Not sure why.

I'm not sure they will let you buy the band after returning it as a package.

I'd heard some claim that mailordered watches would allow you to exchange the band by mail but I have no direct experience.

At least year year, any in-store purchases had to be returned in full, no band-swaps. At least that was my experience.

@tl01 - highly doubt that's going to work - in today's environment I doubt there's any process for returned bands to be placed into inventory-for-sale. Even if it's just to sell to the same person who returned it. Seems silly, but the associates are constrained by the systems & processes.

@Daves0024 - You bought it from Verizon, not Apple. You'll need to look to Verizon for any exchanges. Apple only does those on devices you bought from Apple.

Impatience can be expensive, folks.

I was able to exchange a band that came with a watch, at the Apple store. On paper, the entire watch plus band is "returned," then the same watch plus different band is "purchased." See below. Notice how the serial number of the returned watch is the same as the serial number of the subsequently repurchased watch, but now with a different accompanying band.

i don't think the same applies for Verizon-purchased watches. The disadvantage of getting a Verizon (or Amazon, or B&H) discount

I thought they would not let you do that but I guess they are more flexible than I thought.
