Is there a way to tell my external drives I am the master of my domain and don't need to authenticate all this BS!? sometimes it's just a few random folders while others are fine! What gives! so annoying!

You used to be able to disable ownership for externals in the drive's Get Info window. Don't know if that function is still around in Snow Leopard though.
