I listen to music throughout my house using AirPlay on my speakers. Whenever my MAC is or was just used, the playlist can be accessed using Home Sharing. However, when the computer goes to sleep, the playlist for Home Sharing is unavailable. Since the Mac is in the basement, is there a way to remotely wake it up or have Home Sharing on all the time?

Thanks. Only problem there is that’s how to turn it on at a specific time. I was hoping to be able to either wake it up remotely or keep home sharing on even when it’s asleep.

The Mac is required to be awake for Home Sharing to work. You'll have to set it to never sleep and Music/iTunes will have to be running. You can still have the display turn off and require a password to get back into the Mac but you won't see the full energy savings benefit of "sleep".

Thank you. Is it that bad to lose out on the energy savings?

Is there an option for turning off the display, but not putting a Mac to sleep?

Yes you can choose different settings for the display and the hard drive. What might work for you is to e.g. have the display turn off after 5 min with "never sleep" mode for the HDD
