how is the speed between these 2 mbp?
i have always use the 17" Powerbook/Macbook.
Until now, I want a 15" for more portable because I have the Apple 24" LED LCD at home to work for.
I would really like to know how the speed of the Core2 Duo 2.8 with 512mb 9600m GT vs i5 2.4 256mb 330m GT.
I hope the new i5 with 256mb 330m GT will have better performance.
I dont want to get the new book but its a downgrade from my current book.
I can sell my current book for $2000 and pick up the 15" i5 2.4 $1800+tax.
I mostly use Adobe/Aperture.
Thanks alot!!

CPU's the only real upgrade - the 330M is just another nVidia re-brand.

Although it may not be the newest chip on the market, the 330m is significantly faster than the 9600m. Also, as I understand it, most games or apps, at settings that run well on these cards do not derive much benefit from the extra vram.

Bottom line: the i5 is definitely not a downgrade.

true. :apple:
the sad thing is... the 17" lack of SD card slot....

Keep your 17" Run it as hard as you can and see if you really max it out.....I would wait for the update next year and then you can have the latest MBP
