Just seeking advice.
Since a new Apple TV does not appear to be forthcoming (this year) is there really any reason to put off bying an Apple TV 4K (or whatever it's called)? Would a new model likely offer any significant improvements over the current model? I'd really like to get rid of my Roku box, the interface of which grows more wearisome by the day.
Thanks.

Is there a new rumour that the next Apple TV won't appear this year? I'm also desperate to get my first ever Apple TV so have been keeping what I thought was a close eye on Apple TV related rumours and the last I heard was that there is still a strong school of thought that it is coming this year, very possibly launched via a press release rather than at a live event, and the expectation is that it will be in late October or early November. Did I miss something in the last couple of days that has discredited that theory?

It's not an option for me because I'm in the UK but I did read a post a couple of weeks ago from someone on this forum in a similar situation who had bought an Apple TV from a store that had a 90 day return policy so that when the new one launched he could get that and return the old one. I think he/she got their Apple TV from Costco (but I might have mis-remembered that) so presumably that poster was in the USA where apparently you can get some places offering a 90 day no-questions-asked returns policy. If you're in the USA then maybe that might be an option for you but of course you do still run the risk that the new one one come out before the 90 day return window closes.

There is a precedent for the press-release-launch in October by the way. Apparently last year Apple did a week of new product launches right at the end of October where they released a new product each day (via press release) for across a single week. They called it some snappy name that I forget but it got some press interest and seemed to work quite well for Apple so I'm hoping they might do the same thing again this year and that Apple TV and Apple HomePod Mini (where I also want to make my first ever purchase of that device) will both be included in the event.
