Keep spots "open" on the desktop

Hi all,

I've googled for a solution to this but I haven't found anything yet. I'd like to have a way to keep several "spots" open on my desktop underneath my "Macintosh HD" icon for shared drives that I connect to.

I don't connect to them all the time, so when they aren't connected any new document/folder/whatever I move or create on the desktop default to the open location underneath the "Macintosh HD".

I'm thinking the only way to accomplish this is via some sort of an AppleScript, but it's not really my strong suit. Any thoughts on this and/or solutions? Or am I the only one wacky enough to be bothered by this? 🙂

Exactly what I'm looking to do - but automatically. 🙂

I know, but that could be complicated. You want to allow only a select few items, and exclude all others. Good luck with that! The effort that will take, perhaps without success, isn't worth it when the manual solution is so minor.
