I posted recently about getting a SSD. I will get an Intel X25-M 80GB and use an optibay to house my 500GB where the superdrive is.

I already have a slim Samsung USB DVD burner I bought a few years ago to remedy to the Superdrive's inability to burn anything else than 10$ a pop Kodak DVDs.

Anyhow, my point is that I won't need the Superdrive at all anymore.
I have seen it sells for about 200$ on eBay.

Should I sell it or not?
What happens if I need servicing on my Mac (warranty ends in Sept-2010) and I don't have the original Superdrive anymore?

But if the price drops because a newer version of Superdrive comes around then I would have lost money.
I have tight budget for my geek needs as you can imagine :D

You seem like your leaning towards selling it ... Go with your gut feeling.

I don't want to get told my Mac can't be serviced because I don't have the Superdrive to put back in it anymore...

If your strapped for cash then sell it.. otherwise it sounds like you have good reasons to keep it.
