Apple has never released any downloads at midnight before. 9-10 am PST is more likely.

Thanks for that.

There is an error, though. When it's midnight in California, it will be 8am here in the UK.

We (UK) are on GMT +1 during the summer, and California is on GMT -8, but also on daylight saving time so actually GMT -7 in the summer, therefore there is an eight hour difference between us.

Thanks! I'll correct that.

We've been hearing it will hit the Mac App Store on Wednesday July 20th, at 8:30AM EST. This seems pretty logical to me.

Time Zones

I don't know if everybody knows this, but you need to keep this in mind about OS X Lion.

Apple will probably release the software at Midnight.

When Apple says 'Midnight' they don't mean, Midnight at your local time zone.

They mean, Midnight California time. So, here is a little chart to find out when Lion will be out for you. (If the software is released at 12AM like SL.)

-------------------------
:apple: MAC OS X LION RELEASE TIMES
---------------------------------------------
Mac OS X Lion will probably be released at 12AM PST.

Now, if Apple releases Lion at midnight, you'l know what time to download it in your part of the Planet. :p

I don't know how you're calculating this, but 8am in the UK is no where near 2pm NZ

SL was released when the stores opened, I believe, not at midnight. How do you release a physical product at midnight when all your stores are closed?

Lion is not going to be a physical product, just a download. I do agree though that it probably won't be released until sometime in the late morning.

UK time is not GMT.. its GMT+0 in winter time and GMT+1 now.
so if the UK is 8AM then CET (Madrid, Paris, Berlin, Rome..) is 9AM.
