Keeping Backup While Installing new OS

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right section so if it's wrong I apologize.

Right now I have Windows 8.1 on my computer and I want to restore back to Windows 7 using the restore discs. The problem is that I don't want to lost my iPhone backup. I have all my music on an external hard drive so that's not that problem. The only real problem is all the apps that I have downloaded and deleted. The ones that are in my iTunes under apps. Is there anyway for me to keep these? Are they gone forever or will they just reappear once I re-download iTunes?

Apps are .ipa files that are located in your iTunes folder. You can drag and drop them into iTunes if you want. Apps that are already on your phone can be manually transfered to your computer using iTunes so you shouldn't worry about those.

Just copy your entire iTunes folder to an external hard drive and the copy that folder back when you reinstall the OS and download iTunes. Everything will be exactly the way it was.
