Hi all,

Is there any good tips to keep the unibody MacBook's battery healthy. I've seen screenshots of the CocunutBattery application and there is a health bar.

1/ Any tips to keep it as close to 100% as possible?

2/ If the battery is charging, is it okay to use it whilst it's plugged in?

Thanks in advanced.

biggest tip is don't be afraid to use the battery even if you don't need to. I think its advised to make it around 300 cycles a year and if it falls below 80% in the 1st 12 months then apple replace the battery. Within around 15 months of having my MBP i've gone through only around 100 cycles and its capacity is now only 35% :( . As i said, don't be afraid to use it as it will probably do it more good than leaving it.

Do you mean when the battery is low?

Just in general. I found that when i was home i would keep it at my desk and only use it plugged in. and if I took it out with me anywhere i would take the AC adaptor with me as well and always try to plug it in. Of course this is actually really silly, as this means that the battery can go through large periods of time without being used, and therefore lower in quality. Its the same as leaving it fully charged for ages without using the computer at all.

heres a link to a page on apples site goin over a few things

Okay, I understand now, thank you for that.

1/ Say if I have been using the computer for some of the day and it has 20% left and I am about to go to bed. Shall I plug it in to charge?
