I have the Mac mail app (which works wonderfully btw) set up with 3 gmail accounts, and 1 gmail/google apps account.

Now I have Gbs upon Gbs of email in my main gmail account, and it seems like the Mail app stores a copy of all that email on my laptop. Since I don't delete any mail (archive it all) this takes a considerable amount of space.

I noticed there are preferences where you can choose to store all (w/o attachments) or only that i've read or none.

When I changed to none, it seemed like my main inbox (very top of list on left hand side) went empty, almost as if i would have to check the folders in gmail (bottom of list)

does anyone have any idea whats going on or any tips? Ideally I would have Mail store only a month or two of mail locally and delete it dynamically as time progressed, while retaining everything on gmails server, and the gmail web ui
