We missed out buying and using MS Office 2008 as it wouldn't have run our macros. We recently bought a new iMac and used Migration Assistant to move everything to the iMac running Lion. All the MSOffice 2004 files were migrated but the applications' icons were crossed out to show that they won't run because Lion lacks Rosetta.

We had bought Office 2011 and have installed it. When we start running it we were offered these options:
  • Use existing settings
  • Create new settings

If we choose "Use existing settings", does this mean that MSOffice will find and use our macros, templates, dictionary addictions, & etc as we used them Office 2004 in the folders we brought across with Migration Assistant? If not, what does it mean?

We'll be grateful for advice on this.

My understanding of "Use existing settings" is that it will transfer all the ones it can understand. The more complex functions (like your Office 2004 macros) may or may not transfer properly.
