Keeping my G3 from locking up

My iBook G3 has a graphics logic board failure. Every time the lines appear on the screen, or the scambled stuff, the computer locks up and I have to restart with the power button.

However, I was just watching a video on Youtube with a G3 logic board failure, same symptoms as mine, but his kept running after he restored video by pressing on the left palm rest.

Is there a way I can make my iBook G3 do this? It's not the scrambled video that pisses me off, it's the fact that I have to restart all the time.
