Keeping two Macs in synch

Having yesterday migrated my MBP to a new iMac via Migration Assistant, is there a way to passively keep the two machines (now clones of each other) in synch? Say, over wifi?

What do you wanna synch? they are different machines and will necessarily have differences. The solutions already posted work best for data.

Or use one as a sort of a server and the other more like a client, especially useful for desktop to laptop. There are good reasons for not having a complete set of data on something you could get stolen from your car, eg.
