Using an intel macbook, leopard.

I work in a pc world and for obvious reasons need to work with .doc and .xls files on a daily basis. I have been using and getting adapted to Iwork. I really like Pages but Numbers takes awhile to get used to.

Anyhow, I have already set default programs for .doc (pages) and .xls (numbers) but the default Plain document icon is used for all .doc and .xls files now...making it very difficult to tell the difference in a big folder full of them!

I know I can change them individually via "get info" and copying whatever icon i want for the .doc and .xls file types but how do I 1) do it faster than one by one and 2) keep that icon association for all new .doc and .xls files I put on my macbook?

ps: there is no default icon in the "show package contents" of the .app where I can change the icons like other programs. Also, I dont want to have to resave all the files as .pages and .numbers files....

pps: I've tried CandyBar but there is no specific reference to .doc and .xls filetypes...but i did change some other icons :)

Thanks!

You will already have copies of the same files in Numbers and Pages format with their own icons as you have to Save Copy As.. word or xls.

Totally different icons would be more useful. Changing one by one seems to be the only way.
