I don't see a reason why it won't work but the bigger question is why pay $50 for something you can buy for $13?

The new iPad is slightly bigger than The 2 iPad...
Btw The kensington has a soft back material. I dont want the plastic back cover, and I live in italy and the shippings would cost me up to 15/20euros+ a 2week period to wait. I've bought mine for 29euros, that should be something like 36 dollars.
