I've been using the Kensington external battery pack for my old iPod 30G and it's always been able to restore to a full charge from dead.

I just used it today on my IPT 4G and it charged it from 1/4 to 1/3

I know these can be home made from battery packs and the adapter and $40 is a bit much for a battery...

Does anyone know of a GOOD strong battery that will bring an IPT back to full charge?

Update: I just tried my ReVIVE GoCharge and it took it from about 5% up to full charge and had more to spare.

Mine says 1000ma and 500ma and the one in the ad says 2000ma, so I don't know if it's the same.

Upside is that it has an LED flashlight, 2 usb ports, 12v cig adapter built in.

Downside is that it doesn't have a cord for iPod/iPhone, so you have to carry a connector with you.
