Kensington Media Card Reader Express Card Problem

I just got a kensington media card reader express card and when I insert it into the express card slot on my MB Pro 17 (2008) I don't see it in snow leopard. When I insert an sd card into it, I still see nothing.

However, when I run a parallels Windows 7 virtual machine it detects the express card/sd card with no problem.

Ideas anyone?
