My home server (mini running 10.6.4 client, not the OSX Server version) was taking an unusually long time to connect the last couple of days, so I applied the most recent set of software updates and rebooted it. I then discovered that there was some significant directory corruption on the boot disk, which Disk Utility was able to repair.
However, it was still taking a while to connect, at which point I checked the Console to find it flooded with messages along these lines:
Google didn't turn up much, but indeed that file doesn't exist--the whole CCacheServer.app bundle is empty (it's 299K on another 10.6.4 system at home).
Now, I'd assume that it got hosed in the security update, except I'd been having issues since before the update, so now I'm wondering if the directory corruption was worse than I thought, or there's something else wrong. I tried replacing that .app bundle with one from a working system and fixing the permissions on it, but (no surprise) that just changed the Console errors I was getting to something else.
I'd rather not do a full reinstall, so I'm trying reapplying the 10.6.4 combo updater and subsequent updates, for the heck of it.
Anybody seen similar behavior and/or have suggestions about what might cause it or any troubleshooting steps apart from a full OS reinstall?
