Hey all, hoping you may have a few suggestions given my problem:
My MacBook is currently kernal panic'ing on start up into OS X. Panic happens about 2-3 seconds after the start-up chime.
I installed Boot Camp yesterday, installed Windows XP, etc;. No problems working in the Windows partition. When trying to boot back into OS X, I now receive a kernal panic, again, right after the start up chime.
I've tried...
Reseting the PRAM
Tried to boot using the restore system CD's. The system tries to boot via the CD, but eventually kernal panics after 30-40 seconds after the chime.
Tried to connect the computer to another Mac via Target Disk mode (in an effort to make sure all data's backed up). My computer (the target disk moded computer) goes in to the proper firewire mode, but the receiving computer kernal panics and can't mount the drive.
I'm currently calling in a few favors of friends who may have programs like Disk Warrior. My concern is that these programs may not even boot from the CD - just like the system restore disks won't.
I've read other threads that suggest such panics are a hardware problem (unseated ram, etc
. I guess I'm thinking it's a software issue since the Windows side of things works just fine.
Any suggestions before I spend money on software/hardware fixes?
Thanks for your help.
