'Ello, chaps.

I recently bought a Samsung 850 EVO SSD to upgrade the old 150GB HDD in my '08 MB Unibody, but I've encountered a few problems. At first I simply cloned the old HDD onto the SSD and popped it in, but it kept having kernel panics and shut down at random intervals. After troubleshooting everything from the hard drive, the RAM (also upgraded to 8GB) and everything in between using TechTool, it still shut down. Apart from two problematic .plist files, it came back totally clean. Even the RAM DPS told me everything was in clean order. Getting sick and tired of it - and not wanting to do a clean install of Yosemite - I just switched back to the HDD. No problems whatsoever, apart from the slow appstart and slow booting.

However, I got a new job and needed PS to boot in maximum 10 seconds, so I did a clean install of Yosemite, transferred all the apps and files from the old HDD and hoped that would settle everything; But it still shuts down randomly. It doesn't seem to matter if I have sixteen tabs open in Chrome and running heavy scripts in PS, InDD and Lightroom all at once - or if I'm just changing a document in Word. It just locks up - and for some reason the clock disappears - and then either shuts off or remains in a deadlock. I've done every test I can think of, from the fsck command to using DiskUtility to doing a complete check of the system using TechTool.

So I have two options here. Either it's the SSD which is faulty, but I still think that would've come up when checking the nodes and blocks. Or there's some easy fix which I've completely ignored. It doesn't have anything to do with the age of the MB, seeing as it runs perfectly smoothly when booted from the original HDD, and I can't chuck it at the 'geniuses' at the Apple Store, seeing as I have to have it with me at all times. Do you have any thoughts on what can be done? It'll be vastly appreciated.

Tattybye.
