hi all.

having an issue with my powerbook g.4 running 10.5.1

had leopard for over a month no probs. till last few days i am getting random kernel panics.
a few minutes after logging on.
even with no activity.

i get an "ata device recovery failed." in the log.

what is the issue here?

Not that this is going to be much use to you, but I've had similar problems too. I think it's from that recent security update. Since then I've had all sorts of hangs and kernel panics (even in safe mode) when I'd not had a kernel panic in leopard before yesterday.

Did you install that security update?
