Kernel Panic on boot!

Recently I decided to reinstall my OS after wiping everything out of the hard drive, and currently im running snow leopard however my MacBook came with a Leopard restore disk. I proceeded to boot into the disk and do all the necessary things in disk utility and began the installation of leopard but shortly after it started it gave me an error so I had to reboot but now its getting a kernel panic everytime I boot into the restore disk! What is the problem is it the DVD or hard drive? My machine is a 2007 White MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz 4GB RAM DDR2 WD Blue 500GB 5,400 RPM
