Hi,

I own a Mackbook Pro (3.1) with Mavericks, and sometimes it doesn't start up.

I get the folloing message, can you help? What is the problem?

kernel panic log

I checked the logs, and there are 2 kernel panic reports yesterday.

Today I updated my system (several updates).

Here's what I found in the log. Can anyone tell me what it means? Is there a problem with my mac?

Thanks

I'm guessing nobody answered you because nobody is sure what is wrong from that KP log. Unless you are really a wizard diagnosing these it is though to do.

Just an idea, but try to run the Apple Hardware Test and see what that reports.

Is your machine doing anything else odd once it finally starts?

Also, here are some suggestions from Apple in diagnosing KPs.

How do I run the apple hardware test on this machine? MacBook 3.1.

I'm not sure if the ram is an upgrade, as I bought the MacBook 2nd hand.

If it helps... I was getting a lot of crashes and such on an iMac i inherited. Turned out to be a problem with the original ram, either being faulty or having timing differences to the larger ram.

Took it out and have been crash free for 2 days. The mac hardware test will help you determine what is up also

Panic logs are showing call from Machine Check, which usually points to a hardware problem. I'd check for original RAM first and if you've upgraded RAM put the original back in.

I used to do much better on Panic logs, but since I retired in 2006, my skills are very rusty.

I uninstalled a 3rd party app (boom) and made all software updates. It's been running smoothly since.

Hope it stays that way.

I'd really appreciate if someone could tell what this kernel panic means thoug.

I would be surprised if that app caused the KP. Usually if an app causes a KP, you will see some indication of that in the log like a kext file associated with the app running. First thing I looked for in your log was any non-Apple (third party) kext files running and there are none.
