Kernel panic when plugging in flash drive?

Every time I plug in my flash drive, or my android phone, I get a kernel panic. I think its strictly related to storage devices as my Logitech unifying receiver works great, and my dell monitor also plugs into usb port allowing for 4 more USB ports and I get no kernel panic from that either. What could be causing this?
