I've been having kernel panics on a 2017 21" Retina iMac (now running Ventura) since May. You can read all about it here:
How to diagnose too many kernel panics on a 2017 21" Retina iMac running Monterey
and here:
Is It Worth Repairing a 2017 iMac With Frequent, Irritating and Undiagnosable Kernel Panics?
tl;dr? - I've tried pretty much everything I can think of including diagnostic tests, hardware and software isolation, etc. The only thing suggested that I haven't tried is booting from a pristine external drive with nothing but a virgin user. That seemed to be a daunting task which I thought would yield limited information.
In desperation I started logging every single kernel panic a couple of months ago to see if I could spot any trends. The only trend that sticks out is that the iMac never has a kernel panic which I'm away from home. It does panic which I'm home but away from the machine: watching TV, reading a book, sound asleep, etc.
It seems to never panic when I, and all my devices, are aware from home. Could the presence of one or more of these devices be causing the kernel panics?
Granted, there are periods of many consecutive days when I am home and there are no panics.
Here is a complete list of recent kernel panics annotated with periods during which I was away from home.
I've pretty much lost interest in doing any more diagnostics. I'm in the process of moving all my stuff to my wife's M1 iMac which I will make my main machine. I've decided not to replace or repair the errant aging iMac.
