So I just got my new 13 inch MBP and Its great, but the battery life hasn't been good. At all.

This is pretty shocking for me considering I only do basic internet browsing with all the necessary steps being taken to conserve battery.

I took it to the Applestore and they said my battery appeared fine. He told me to do some stuff to see what I could do to improve it on my own

I made a guest account and got much better battery life.

When I first got the MBP, i used the migration assistant to transfer everything from my old computer. Everything. Well, under the activity monitor kernel_task is hogging about 300 Megabytes of memory and I feel like that might be the culprit. I have no idea what it is, but it doesnt exist on my fresh user account.

Ive spent pretty much the entire night deleting old things and cache using Onyx and other tools to no avail.

What should I do to get rid of it? Im completely stumped. The only thing I could think to do is start fresh and I really dont want to. I like the way my computer is set up

Oh at one point i used the disk utility to repair the image and it asked me to insert my original disk to repair something. Is that necessary/would I lose all of my stuff?

Thanks for any help!
