Hi guys,

I have three MacBooks in my household, all running OSX 10.9 but what struck my is that when I looked at the memory usage of all of them is that the kernel_task process is only taking around 450 mb on the two MacBooks that aren't mine, while mine is taking up 850-900.

So my questions are, what could cause this huge difference in memory usage and what could I do to reduce the memory usage?

Thanks in advance!

Why do you want to 'lessen memory usage'? Are you experiencing performance problems?

Not yet. But if there's something I can do about it then why not? It just struck me as odd that the process on my Mb was about twice as large as on the other two Mb's.

My kernel_task takes 1.2GB. Never had a problem with it though...
