OK, I did a moderate job searching help, forums, and fiddling around with Font Book looking for hints... are there simple key combinations to type the "infinite Loop" symbol and other key/common apple symbols? So, teaching me how to fish, if there are combinations to get these symbols... how do I find them on my own? Using Font Book would seem logical, but I couldn't make any headway with that app though I did find the infinite loop symbol ....

Thanks!

If you have the input menu (the little flag) activated in the right hand side on your menu bar select "Show Keyboard Viewer". You can then "Show keyboard viewer"...hold down your shift and option keys one at a time, then both together until you locate where the symbols are.

If you do not have "Show Keyboard Viewer" as an option (or you don't have the input menu showing in the menu bar) go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > International then select the Input Menu tab. Then put a check in the box next to keyboard viewer and check the box Show input menu in menu bar at the bottom of the window.

? (that's it believe it or not) If Verdana and a web-browser will display it...

Option (Alt) + 5 on most fonts. Might be luckier with a print document.

If you really want to go symbol crazy, follow the steps in my post above to get to the Input Menu options and check Character Palette, then select the Character Palette from the Input menu in the right hand corner of the men...you can scroll thru and select from thousands of symbols there.
