hey guys,

i've got an old (late 2008 unibody mbp 15") sitting around not doing much because it's got a few things wrong with it. I'm replacing the fans out as they're broken but it's also got a key missing.

Is there any way I can buy a key and replace it or is it a case of replacing the whole keyboard assembly?

does anyone know how much it would cost to do this through apple? checking online it seems like i need to buy the entire top case of the machine with the trackpad which works out quite expensive. Just wondering if apple can do this cheaper/with less effort on my part?

If it's going to be more than a hundred bucks there's little point in fixing it!

thanks in advance!

I had problems with some keys when I first bought my late 2008 13" aluminum Macbook. Apple could only fix it by replacing the entire keyboard (which took forever, but that's a different story).

So, AFAIK, you have to replace the entire keyboard.
