I was wondering if anyone could recommend a few resources for me on ensuring a smooth transition from Win to Mac, especially in terms of my Outlook files [huge], Favorites.

Your first stop should be Apple's own switcher site. It has all the basic tips and information needed to get you going. In Apple's support site (support.apple.com) there is a 'Mac 101' section with lesson basics that are helpful for first time mac users, even if you are very fluent with pc s in general.
