Hi folks,

I purchased a used MacBook Pro (13 inch, early 2015) a couple of weeks ago. Worked fine, loving the thing. A few days ago, I started having an occasional problem with the keyboard and trackpad not working upon boot up. A re-boot would fix the problem. Well, now it seems completely "dead." No backlighting or anything. The machine works fine with a plugged in keyboard and mouse. I've tried resetting the SMC and the PRAM - no luck.

On the auxiliary keyboard, I CAN get into the recovery utility. The machine had Yosemite installed when I purchased it, and I upgraded to the new Catalina.

Any suggestions here?

Thanks in advance -

Probably the cable that connect the keyboard and the trackpad has lost its connection or is broken. I had the same issue on my early 2015 Macbook Pro. I ordered a new cable and fixed the problem. It's easy to fix.

Peter, have to REALLY thank you for posting since I hadn't seen that fix before. Ordered the part, followed the easy video, and I am up and running. Much appreciated!
