Keyboard and trackpad doesn't work after wake/boot

As per the thread title, my work MacBook keyboard and trackpad keeps not engaging after I open the lid or boot.

It was happening running 10.9, I upgraded hoping that would fix it but still seems to be an issue in 10.10

It temporarily resolves after a ram reset, but then goes back to the same issue

I fear this is a hardware issue but am posting in the hopes there's an obscure software fix I've missed

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, again works temporarily.

Thanks, work took it to the mac store today and were informed that the cable for both had become detached from "the brain" (logic board I assume). It's getting repaired free
