I've recently replaced the battery on a 2019 MacBook Pro (A2159), but in doing so I messed up and hit the trackpad with the tool I was using to remove the battery. I know I should have removed the trackpad, but I didn't and now I'm paying for it.

I know for a fact that the trackpad doesn't work as I damaged some of the chips, but after reconnecting the battery to quickly test the machine the built in keyboard doesn't work.

So my question would be is a working trackpad required in order for everything in the machine to work as it should or have I somehow damaged the keyboard as well? I've ordered a new trackpad, but I just thought I'd check and see as I'm new to working on Mac and they're quite different from Windows based machines.
