I've been googling to no avail, and couldn't find any answers.

You know how you can setup the keyboard backlight to auto enable when there's not enough light ? I love that, BUT, it always backlights very brightly, even when it's night time, thus draining my battery.

Also, does it light up when it's day time and turns off when it's dark? (just like auto-brightness on displays). Shouldn't it be the opposite?

Basically, what I want is: When it's dark, backlight to the dimmest; when there's light, no backlight.

Is there any way to achieve this with the terminal? Should I code a script? I have no idea whatsoever but I'm willing to learn ! Thanks in advance.
