Keyboard Backlight Problem

I have a 2012 mid retina...keyboards an a1398. I replaced the keyboard and is everything is normal except for the keyboard backlight. Ive tried everything ive read OL...SMV reset...f6 and f7 keys, unchecked low level light box in settings. Still no backlight. Is there possibly a connector issue??...the old keyboard was faulty but the backlight worked, new one doesnt. Anybody know?

Did you install a keyboard that came with new backlight or did you transfer your old to the new keyboard?
Check the proper connection of the keyboard backlight connector on the mainboard (it is a separate one to the main keyboard connector)
