Has anyone ever seen this before? The heat must have been so bad that while escaping through the keys, it melted them and pushed them up. The odd thing is this had to had happened while it was asleep. I recall coming home and thinking "man this is really hot". I noticed it right after. It has been replace with a 2019, but I wanted to know what the heck caused this and if anyone has had this experience.

Thanks.

My advice in two parts:

Part a:
Take it to a brick-n-mortar Apple Store right away (without delay) -- they may replace it for free.

Part b:
SHUT DOWN the laptop at night.
Yes, you have to reboot in the morning.
But... no more problems like this with a "runaway process" heating up the computer at night when you can't see or control it.
