iPod touch Keyboard Clicks not working..

First I'm using an iPod Touch 3G. Ok so I have all my sounds turned on, sounds volume up, iPod volume full blast, yet when I type I can BARELY hear a click, but when I lock the phone or get an email I can hear the noise loudly. Restarting doesn't help, turning the setting on then off doesn't help. I compared to a friends iPod Touch 2G and it was way loud, while mine was hardly audible.

Also my songs come out distorted on all songs at full blast (the external speaker).

Does it sound like I have a bad speaker, should I try and get a new one from apple?

BTW I'm a little past 2 weeks from buying so does this mean I will only get a refurb? Anything bad about them compared to new?

Try restoring it. If you end up getting it replaced with a refurb it will be fine. The refurbs come with the same warranty and get treated just like a new iPod.
